In a few weeks, Obama will hang up his hat and complete his 8-year-long shift as President of the United States. But he is planning on going out in style, this Friday (January 6th) he has a fabulous farewell party scheduled, with some incredible guests set up to be in attendance!
Jay Z and Beyonce are set to make an appearance, and it’s rumoured the power couple will be performing.
A source has also divulged that other celebrity attendants will include Usher, Samuel L. Jackson, Bradley Cooper, Stevie Wonder, Georga Lucas and Oprah Winfrey among others!
President Obama will chase his farewell party with a farewell address in Chicago on January 10th.
Obama has always been very vocal about his support and love of hip-hop during his time as President, so it makes sense for Jay Z to be performing at his farewell party. Obama even appeared on Sway In The Morning a few months ago to discuss the current rap scene, of which he believes Jay Z is king.
President Obama said, “I think the young guys, Kendrick and Chance are doing amazing work. I love Drake and the girls love Drake. He’s, commercially, just doing great and unbelievably talented. Jay Z is still the king. You know, he’s got a track record. Same with Kanye.”
Jay Z’s appearance and potential performance at President Obama’s farewell party serves as a reminder that things are going to be substantially different in a few weeks when Donald Trump becomes President. Celebrities have already been turning down appearances at events associated with him, and it is unlikely things will change when he gets into the White House.
It’s been the privilege of my life to serve as your President. I look forward to standing with you as a citizen. Happy New Year everybody.— President Obama (@POTUS) 1 janvier 2017
